The Board of Directors of the Oregon Cambodian Buddhist Society, Inc. cordially invites all members of our community to celebrate Bon Asalha Puja (Rain Retreat or Buddhist Lent), and Pka Prak Samakki (fundraising for temple).

Beginning a day after the full-moon of Asalha month (July), Theravada Buddhist monks observe Vassana or ‘Rain Retreat’ and remain in the temple for a duration of 3 months.

This year the ceremony begins on Thursday evening, July 10th, and continue through Saturday (July 12th).

PROGRAM

THURSDAY July 10, 2025

6:00 PM           Pay homage to Triple Gem, observe the five precepts, and Paritta recitation.

FRIDAY July 11, 2025

9:30 AM          Pay homage to the Buddha, observe the Five Precepts

10:00 AM        Almsgiving

11:00 AM        Food offering to the Sangha

12:00 PM        Lunch for laypeople

SATURDAY July 12, 2025

9:30 AM          Pay homage to the Buddha, observe the Five Precepts

10:00 AM        Almsgiving

11:00 AM        Food offering to the Sangha

12:00 PM        Lunch for laypeople

12:00 PM        Offering the candle, Pka Prak (money tree) to the Sangha, and conclude with the Manghala Sutta.
