Memorial Announcement for the passing of Ubāsaka Achar Sokharo Choy

We the Board of the Oregon Cambodian Buddhist Association of WattDhammarangsey, as well as our member Families and Friends of Ubāsaka Achar Sokharo Choy, are deeply saddened by his unexpected passing. During temple cleaning for the upcoming Khmer New Year, Ubāsaka Achar Sokharo suddenly became ill. Despite intense efforts to revive him by community members and paramedics he did not recover and passed away on the afternoon of March 16, 2024 at age 69.

Our Board of Directors, Member Families and Friends of the Temple wish to invite all Honorable, Ladies and Gentlemen, Brothers, Sisters, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, and other Relatives and Friends who have loved and respected Ubāsaka Achar Sokharo to attend the funeral observances.

Saturday, March 23, 2024

3:00 pm The body of Ubāsaka Achar Sokharo Choy will arrive at Wat Dhammarangsey to commence the Buddhist Ceremony at 19940 S.W. STAFFORD RD, WEST LINN, OR 97068

6:00 pm Gathering of all guests and families for the Chanting and Blessing Ceremony. Preah Honorable Micheal Tang will be invited to provide Thor Tesna-(Dhamma Teaching).

Sunday, March 24, 2024 (7 day memorial ceremony)

9:00 am Gathering of all guests and families for the Chanting and Blessing Ceremony

10:00am Offering food to the Monks (Roab Baht) and continued chanting (Dar and Bang Skol).

11:00 am Meal offering for the Monks

12:00 pm Lunch for Laypeople

5:00 pm Gathering of all guests for Chanting and Blessing Ceremony
